The 180-tonne facility lets our members’ catch be stored without waiting on the quay.
The cold storage investment our cooperative has worked on for two years is complete. Located next to the fishing shelter, the facility holds 180 tonnes of product across two separate temperature zones.
Members can now store their catch immediately rather than leaving it on the quay. This protects product quality and gives members flexibility against price swings.
Representatives of the Port Authority, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and the regional cooperatives union attended the opening. The facility is expected to serve 40 members in its first season.
